We are pleased to offer for sale this Long Island Tercentenary Silver Commemorative Half Dollar (1936) in XF-40 or Better Condition.  This Long Island Tercentenary Half Dollar was designed by Howard Kenneth Weinman son of A.A. Weinman who designed the Liberty Walking half dollar.  The Long Island Half Dollar was struck to commemorate the 300th anniversary of the first white settlement on Long Island.  The obverse of the Long Island Tercentenary Half Dollar shows accoladed heads depicting a Dutch settler and an Indian.  The reverse of the Long Island Tercentenary Silver Commemorative Half Dollar features a Dutch sailing vessel.  There were only 81,826 of this Long Island Tercentenary Silver Commemorative Half Dollar minted at the Philadelphia Mint in 1936, making it of great worth and value to the commemorative coin collector.  The Long Island Commemorative Coin is comprised of .900 silver and .100 copper (90% Silver), has a diameter of 30.6mm, and weighs 12.5 grams.
