We are pleased to offer for sale this Oregon Trail Memorial Silver Commemorative Half Dollar (1926-1939) in XF-40 or Better Condition . This Oregon Trail Memorial Half Dollar was designed by James and Laura Fraser and was struck in commemoration of the Oregon Trail and in memory of the pioneers who traveled it. The obverse of the Oregon Trail Commemorative Half Dollar features a Conestoga wagon drawn by oxen heading into a setting sun. The reverse of the Oregon Trail Memorial Silver Commemorative Half Dollar depicts an Indian standing erect with an outstretched arm as if to say, "Stop" superimposed on a map of the United States showing a line of Conestoga wagons heading West. There were only 203,102 of this Oregon Trail Silver Half Dollar minted at the Philadelphia, Denver, and San Francisco Mints from 1926 through 1939, making it of great worth and value to the commemorative coin collector. This was the First Commemorative Coin struck at the Denver Mint (1933). The Oregon Trail Commemorative Coin is comprised of .900 silver and .100 copper (90% Silver), has a diameter of 30.6mm, and weighs 12.5 grams.
