Stamp Sheet is a stock photo. Plate positions may vary. Sheet Size: 9 stamps, 3 across 3 down History: In 1898, the United States issued a set of nine commemorative stamps to honor the Trans-Mississippi and International Exposition which was a world's fair held in Omaha, Nebraska. This was only the second set of commemorative stamps ever issued. Originally, the plan was for 7 stamps ranging from 1 cent to 1 dollar, with each containing a different design. Later in the process, two more stamps were added, including the $2 issue. The goal of the fair was to show the development of the West, from the Mississippi River to the Pacific Ocean.
