  • History: Albert Einstein (1879-1955) was a German-American scientist who is considered to be one of the founding fathers of physics, and indeed much of modern science. Concepts and discoveries by Einstein such as the theory of relativity and the energy-mass equation (E=MC²) helped form the basis for modern physics. In 1921, he received the Nobel Prize in Physics. Being Jewish, he fled from Germany to the United States in 1933 in the wake of Hitler's rise to power, and spent much of the rest of his life at Princeton in New Jersey.
