Sheet Size: 20 stamps. 4 across, 5 down. History: This Distinguished Marines stamp sheet features four legendary Marines from United States history. Lt. General John A. Lejune was known as the "greatest of all Leathernecks" and the "Marine's Marine." He served for nearly 40 years and commanded the U.S. Army's 2nd Infantry Division during World War I. Lt. General Lewis B. Puller was one of the most decorated members of the Marine Corps. He is the only Marine to ever be awarded five Navy Crosses, and participated in battles of World War II and the Korean War before retiring in 1955. Sgt. John Basilone was awarded the Medal of Honor for heroism during the Battle of Guadalcanal during World War II. He was killed in Iwo Jima aiding a Marine tank that was trapped in an enemy mine field. Sgt. Major Daniel J. Daly was one of seven marines to ever receive the Medal of Honor twice. He is most famous for yelling, "For Christ Sakes men. Come on! Do you want to live forever?" to the men in his company before charging the Germans during the Battle of Belleau in World War I.
